About New Spring Nutrition

I’d always found the concept of the first 1000 days and Early Life Nutrition fascinating, and my personal preconception, pregnancy and postpartum experience further solidified my passion in this area.

However, even as a dietitian, I found it frustrating to navigate the conflicting information on pregnancy advice. Most pregnancies aren’t smooth sailing, and I kept thinking that if I was struggling, even with my nutrition background, surely many other pregnant women also are.

I therefore made the leap to study further and specialise in this area, and I became a certified Prenatal Dietitian. And wow, I wish I’d done it before my own pregnancy!

So I became determined to help as many pregnant women as I could to navigate their own preconception, pregnancy and postpartum period without the frustration that I and so many others experience.

But it doesn’t stop there! Whether you are nowhere near (or never will be) preparing for a pregnancy, or you’re already a busy and experienced mum, I believe it’s never too late to take the leap towards transforming your nutrition and springing towards a new you!

What is Early Life Nutrition?

Early Life Nutrition refers to the crucial role of nutrition during the first 1000 days.

The first 1000 days is a critical period of growth and development spanning from before conception to around 2 years of age. It is a fantastic window of opportunity to positively affect long-term health of the baby, including immunity, cognitive function, chronic disease and more.

Though most people focus on the benefits to the baby, I believe that this window of opportunity also applies to women and families!

About Eva

Food has always been a big part of my life, so it’s no wonder I became a dietitian! With my childhood split between Brazil and Australia, and having French and Slovenian parents who love good food, my childhood was never short of delicious and varied food experiences.

I also spent many childhood holidays at my best friend’s vegetable and free-range pig and sheep farm. I really got to experience the entire farm to plate journey, and I even sold their produce at the local farmer’s markets.

I began my studies on the medicine pathway with a Bachelor of Biomedicine in Melbourne, but my appreciation for delicious and nutritious food diverted my path, so I followed this up with a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics in Sydney.

A few years later, my path was diverted by my other passion: travel! My partner and I move to the UK to explore (and eat our way through) Europe. I continued working as a dietitian, and registered with the HCPC and the British Dietetics Association. I even worked remotely while travelling for 9 months in a campervan that we converted ourselves (extra space dedicated to the kitchen, of course)!

Why “New Spring Nutrition”?

When I think about the period of time around pregnancy and birth, I can’t help but consider the similarities to this season of transformation, growth and new beginnings.

And new beginning can happen at any time, including outside of pregnancy and birth. A nutrition and lifestyle transformation can happen for anyone ready to spring into a new you!

Also, my daughter was born at the beginning of spring!
